Ras Al Khaimah to host global Arab Business Meeting in Dec

Khaleej Times, October 22, 2012

DUBAI - The third Global Arab Business Meeting will be held in Ras Al Khaimah from December 9 to 10, the event organiser Horasis said on Sunday.

The event is open to CEOs of the world’s leading companies. The Government of Ras Al Khaimah, represented by Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority, and the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry will act as meeting co-hosts. The 2011 and 2010 Global Arab Business Meeting — also held in Ras Al Khaimah — drew 300 participants from over 35 countries.

His Highness Shaikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah; Shaikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade; Nicolas Nahas, Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade; and Verrappa Moily, India’s Union Minister of Corporate Affairs and Power, are among the leaders taking part in the event.

“The Global Arab Business Meeting will see 300 top decision-makers convene from business and government sectors from around the Arab world and beyond,” Dr Frank-Jürgen Richter, chairman of Horasis said at a Press conference.

“The meeting will help uncover the economics of change in the Arab world and to define Arab firms’ growth agenda. The decision to host this event is to reinvigorate Horasis’ partnership with Ras Al Khaimah and to align its strategy with the evolving global context as well as the development priorities for the Arab world,” he said.

“Industries continue to grow rapidly in the region, and Ras Al Khaimah is pleased to welcome global business and political leaders as they come together to inspire a more prosperous future for our people,” added Nasser Ahmed Salmeen, Director General, RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry. “It is through these developments that we continue to propel the emirate through shared knowledge and experience.”

“The Global Arab Business Meeting will further promote the Ras Al Khaimah as a centre for business, tourism and trade; highlighting the many advantages that the emirate has to offer. We are pleased to reignite this fruitful partnership for the benefit of all concerned,” said Karam Al Sadeq, Deputy CEO of Rakia. Horasis also hosts regional meetings on China, India and Russia.
